Dear National Academy Associate members,
For years the Youth Leadership Program (YLP) has held their 8-day intensive course in Quantico, VA, designed to offer lifelong enrichment opportunities in support of exceptional young leader’s drive for knowledge and their desire to make a difference in the world.
With the many top tier applicants evaluated and scored annually by an independent panel, the selection of the cherished spot was selected for 2020, and the young aspiring leader was notified and anxiously looked forward to attending this prestigious event. Unfortunately, the COVID pandemic of 2020 resulted in the cancelling of the esteemed program for the entire year of 2020.
As a result, it was the Board’s unanimous decision in conjunction with the Committee Chairperson recommendation, to offer the 2021 YLP to the 2020 candidate. We all felt it would be unfair for this candidate to be bypassed, and required to start the process all over again, after being notified of their initial selection.
With that decision, the 2021 YLP application process will be rescinded and the program for enrollment and application will be for the 2022 YLP session when announced.
I appreciate your understanding in this matter and appreciate your continued support of our Chapter’s interest in fulfilling the dreams of young service minded leaders.
